After arriving in Munich, we begin this unforgettable 12-day journey by traveling to Fuessen, our jumping off point to the rich cultural sites of Bavaria and nearby Salzburg, Austria.

From Fuessen we'll venture out daily to visit sites such as the baroque Ottobeuren's Basilica St. Alexander, 17th century King Ludwig II's fairy tale style Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhoff castle, also known as the "Water Castle" because of its many enchanting fountains. Topping off our list of castle visits is a trip to Herrenchiemsee Castle on the island of Herreninsel in the lovely lake Chiemsee. We'll also visit the King's hunting camp for "Huettenabend", a traditional German evening with dinner and traditional Bavarian music. Beer is optional!

Crossing the border into neighboring Austria, we tour the countryside and stop for a sumptuous lunch amidst the ruins of yet another long forgotten castle. The Austrian city of Salzburg is also on the agenda with a free evening for optional classical music concerts at the historic "Mirabellengarten".

Don't worry if this seems busy. There's plenty of time for hiking, shopping, spas, or other optional excursions!
