Alaska Wildlife Viewing Tours
We fly from Anchorage to Kodiak before boarding a float plane the next day
for the hop over to Katmai National Park. While in Katmai,
you’ll enjoy 4 days in an absolutely first class lodge (10 guests maximum)
complete with gourmet meals and all the amenities. But we're here to see bears
and the 480 mile Katmai coast is home to more than 2,000 Alaskan Brown Bears!
Head out on daily boat trips along the coast and then hike to see these
magnificent creatures feasting on clams and crabs as appetizers before gorging
on the main course - salmon! Yes, those films of bears diving underwater for
salmon are true. Bring plenty of film for your camera! Between trips, kick back
on your own private deck set against a backdrop of breathtaking mountains and
glaciers, beach comb the absolutely pristine coast, or try your hand at salmon
fishing alongside the bears.
Return to Anchorage for an evening of last minute shopping or just a night out
on the town before your trip home or another Alaskan adventure.
We fly from Anchorage to Alaska's Kodiak Island and the home of the Kodiak
Bear, one of the largest, most powerful carnivores on earth.
Your quaint, cannery-atmosphere lodge is surrounded by the Kodiak National
Wildlife Refuge and it 3,000 hungry bear inhabitants gorging on the massive
Kodiak salmon runs that come each spring and summer. After hibernating during
the winter, thousands of bears are drawn like magnets to Kodiak's rivers and
lakes and their huge amounts of salmon.
During your Kodiak Island stay, you'll have the opportunity to see bears in
three settings. First, boat the bays while searching the shoreline and
hillsides. Next, hike prime bear country to spot Kodiak Bears the the thick
lush, Kodiak forest. The third setting is what many consider the highlight of
your tour - a fly-out where professional guides take you to Kodiak locations
where bears gather to salmon fish.
Jealous of those bears catching all the fish? No problem, enjoy fishing for
King, Red or Silver salmon yourself. There’s plenty to go around on Kodiak
Island!
