Alaska by Train, Plane & Automobile

Web Version

Spend your first enjoying the sites and sounds of Alaska's largest city - Anchorage, before driving north to the Matanuska Valley. Visit the Hatchers Pass with its historic gold mine, before continuing to Talkeetna and a flight over North America's highest peak - Mt. McKinley in Denali National Park. Spend your extra days hiking, walking, or enjoying an optional helicopter landing or dogsled ride on a glacier.

We will drive the Old Denali Highway with the beautiful view of the Alaska Range before we go down south to the Kenai Peninsula. Watch for Dall sheep and Beluga whales along the way. Your days on the Kenai Peninsula include a full day glacier and wildlife viewing cruise from Seward through Kenai Fjords National Park and into the Gulf of Alaska. Sea Lions, otters, eagles and puffins abound (not to mention glaciers). Spend two nights in the artsy fishing town of Homer. Optional day tours out of Homer include bear viewing in Katmai National Park.

Board the Alaska Railroad going back to Anchorage. Another great optional tours:

By the Alaska Railroad to Whittier and Prince William Sound for a spectacular glacier viewing cruise.

Return to Anchorage before heading home or continuing on another tour.
